SET 1
(Are You Red-dy)
This lipstick applies really smoothly. It has the most gloss to it compared to the other two lipsticks. As for the color, it’s closer to an orange-tone red. On the first swipe it applies fairly opaque, which I love in a lipstick. It’s also buildable. A light application of this lipstick resembles an opaque lip balm and with a few more swipes it can really look full and glossy. A great lipstick, definitely going to be purchasing more colors!
(Get to the Poinsettia)
I must admit, Drew Barrymore really sold me with the packaging of her line. Something about gold detailing really makes anything look that much more classy. As for the Velvet Lip Colors, it really didn't do much for me. First thing I noticed was a feint floral scent. Although it's very minimal and the smell disappears within a couple minutes. The lipstick is matte, but bit drying on the lips. The color is yet another bright red and on the warm red-orange tone. Great packaging but the product itself is nothing spectacular.
(Kiss Me Coral)
As you compare this lipstick with the other two, this one is noticeably more orange and coral toned. Super pretty and is similar to the consistency of the Maybelline (Are You Red-dy). Kiss Me Coral is perfect for daytime and is a bit more wearable than your typical "va va voom" red. It's a muted coral, yet it still ranges in the red family.
Of the three lipsticks, I gravitate towards Revlon's Kiss Me Coral the most. It's a color that I think brightens up any complexion, and is a great transitioning color to a bright red lipstick.
SET 2
(Movie Star)
E.L.F.'s Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick, it's probably one of the most affordable jumbo lip products out there in the market. It feels very chapstick/balmy on the lips and has a subtle minty flavor. The color is super sheer allowing the color of your natural lips to peek through. The longevity is minimal and is build-able to a certain extent. Very comparable to a gimmicky lip balm. The price is A+, but to think about it... "you get what you paid for." (And to mention, the packaging is pretty bad. I don't know if it was just mine, but the lid just won't stay on and the stick itself wiggles while I'm trying to apply!)
(Burgundy )
This Jumbo Lipstick is a product made by Etude House, a Korean cosmetic brand. I'm not very familiar with Asian cosmetics so initially, I bought this online not knowing what to expect. To my surprise, Nature Republic's Botanical Eco Crayon was quite pigmented. Score! It's literally a lipstick in the form of a jumbo pencil. The name of the color is spot on too. A fresh burgundy color with just a touch of gloss. Great for fall!
(Plum )
To be honest, I've never heard of the brand J.cat. Certainly not until I received a J.cat lip product in an Ipsy bag. I must say though, this is one of my favorites so far from their monthly subscriptions! The product itself is a bit misleading towards the "Plum" color that they branded it with. Instead of a plum color, it's actually a gorgeous nude/natural peach. The consistency is super smooth and glides on like butter. Unfortunately, this product isn't twistable, so have fun trying to find a sharpener that fits!
Overall, you can never go wrong with a jumbo lipstick. My favorite has to be J.cat's The Big Lip Pencil in Plum. It is definitely a "my lips, but better." I just wish they had made this version in a traditional lipstick tube!
SET 3
(After Blossom)
Here is another lip product made by Etude House. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this color. It's a stunning magenta plumy color and the packaging is too cute! It has a sponge tip applicator and the consistency is very matte, mousse-like, and has a floral perfume scent. They call it the Rosy Tint Lips, and they call it that for a reason because it stains your lips very well and can reach full color. But here's the thing, I notice that this products has more downsides to it than positives. For one, after a couple hours of wear, the product doesn't seem to sit well on the lips. It's extremely drying even with using lip balm as a base. By the end of an hour or so, my lips look intensely chapped with a bit of that stain hanging around the dry patches on my lips. Definitely not attractive. I guess this product is more of a layering lip stain, so wearing it alone sheer or full is a no-no.
(Monte Carlo)
NYX's Soft Matte Lip Creams are perfection. I have a collection of almost every red/pink color of their line and all I can say is WOW. The mousse-like consistency is great and drys matte without drying out the lips. They are extremely pigmented and the application brush is great for precision. The color Monte Carlo is wonderful. It is deep rich red color and has blue undertones. Great for making teeth look super white! This product has a strong vanilla scent on application, but throughout the day the scent wears off.
(Coral Tattoo)
Loreal's wet shine stain is pretty interesting. I never owned a product quite like this one where the lip gloss actually stains the lips. The color is natural looking, very shiny and adds a hint of coral to the lips. This stain also has a strong perfumey scent to it as well. It is buildable and bit sticky. Be sure to apply this product in layers and allowing it to dry otherwise you'll end up with a big clumpy mess.
In conclusion, I am in love with the color of Etude's Rosy Lip Tint in After Blossom, but definitely not worth buying again because of the short wear in the product. As for my favorite, it is hands down NYX's Soft Matte Lip Creams.
